crowdsourcing

For my first crowd source i chose the johnny cash project. i thought it was a really interesting idea to use massive amounts of people to do each frame of a music video for you!

For the second crowd source i did the young me
now me project. I thought it was a really cool way of exhibiting the human condition. Plus i was a cute baby.

I chose this picture because i spend a lot of time gaming now and as you can see i did then too.

For my own crowd source i decided to do something that would help make the world a better place. In the modern world it is becoming harder and harder to get people to read anything, especially when it comes to a web page. Alternatively, in today's society if you want to get anything changed the best course of action is to create an online movement.

For these reasons i want to create an online visual petition site. Where the user can interactively see the thousands of people who also want change and decide to add his/her picture to the collage. It would also be possible to scroll over each picture to see the profile and any comments on the petition.

  1. Dylan,
This is a pretty clever idea. Having a visual, interactive reference to put a face on a cause would probably be very powerful. To make the work better you should have titled and created your own interface and images for the project. I understand the ease of image search but your piece would be visually successful if you took more responsibility for your content rather than simple image grabs. You're an artist, so I would like to see your "hand" in the work.

  2. im little confused on the idea. i really like the petition aspect and putting your face too it, just confused on how a website like this would work. I think the face coming together is extremely cool and meaningful in something like this

  3. I like the idea of seeing the people involved in a petition, however not everyone would want to be seen...
It does bring out front the faces with the numbers and that can connect to people!

  4. I agree with bluesky. Would each petition have its own image that the collage creates, or a set image for every petition?

  5. Would the images to able to be clicked on to expand or be linked?

  6. I'm not sure how exactly you'd get the right number of photos with the right tint and color in order to make the image you intend to for each petition. But other than that, this is very creative and I love the idea of attaching the face and life to those thousands of names on petitions.

  7. I agree with Sarah. Not everyone wants to be seen, but im sure you would have an option to just sign and not have to submit a picture? Do you have a specific cause in mind to petition or would it be many different petitions to choose from?
