discussion questions 4/23

My first question is:

Are curators going to disappear in the new age of new media?

My second question is:

Does crowdsourcing ever have a limit, where the art becomes the property of the contributors and not the artist who conceived the idea?

crowdsourcing

For my first crowd source i chose the johnny cash project. i thought it was a really interesting idea to use massive amounts of people to do each frame of a music video for you!

For the second crowd source i did the young me
now me project. I thought it was a really cool way of exhibiting the human condition. Plus i was a cute baby.

I chose this picture because i spend a lot of time gaming now and as you can see i did then too.

For my own crowd source i decided to do something that would help make the world a better place. In the modern world it is becoming harder and harder to get people to read anything, especially when it comes to a web page. Alternatively, in today's society if you want to get anything changed the best course of action is to create an online movement.

For these reasons i want to create an online visual petition site. Where the user can interactively see the thousands of people who also want change and decide to add his/her picture to the collage. It would also be possible to scroll over each picture to see the profile and any comments on the petition.

statement: In setting out on this project i wanted to analyze the interplay of gamer and gaming world. I find the simpleness of the gamer sitting there compared to the massive amount of action going on in the virtual world very interesting. It just goes to show the ingenuity of the human mind that you can sit there, without moving, and so much can be going on inside your head.
