Discussion Qs

Is the author trying to claim that there is a quality to art that transcends its physical nature? That it somehow inherits more creativity and independence from the environment it is kept in?

In chapter III the author talks about shifts in human perception and the medium in which it is expressed. Does art really have that much to do with human perception?

Triptych: War Bonds

I chose to focus on advertisements for war bonds and images of war because i feel that there is a vast difference between American view of war now as compared to pre-1950's. During WW2 people would starve themselves just to send a little more money to the troops, this attitude is portrayed through the images and drawings in this triptych.
